Former CFC Prez Vancouver BC
Hi Bob,
The discussions about converting from a printed magazine to an online magazine amongst the Executive (and to some extend the Governors) goes back six to seven (6 to 7) YEARS!!
I am aware of two occasions of formal Executive Votes, and in each case the idea got trounced by maybe 1:5 or worse. And I'am quite sure that there was once a Governors (Straw?) vote and the idea lost by a margin of something like 1:3, or worse.
Obviously the world and surely the online world has changed. We have not fallen victim to
the (b)leading edge syndrom, but on the other hand we have missed the boat quite entirely on this subject. (Suggested reading: Three Moves Ahead by Bob Rice)
By now we are facing rather serious issues and the solutions are neither simple nor easy.
The total lack of understanding, interest, sense of urgency etc. of what faced the organization by Presidents, Executive and EDs of the past five(!) years is truly breathtaking.
Instead on sites like this, somebody like Les Bunning must take "conflict of interest" insinuations, when he offers to do things for FREE, as he has done ALL THE TIME, for the past 25(!) years, no less. And that by people, who, to the best of my knowledge, have NEVER raised a finger to WORK (I know this is a four letter word
) for the national interest and federation.
Finally, to answer that question in the heading:
1, FREE
2, FREE
3, FREE
failing this:
A, FOR LESS
B, FOR LESS
C, FOR LESS
Cheers
Peter
