Let's be clear. I didn't "insinuate" anything (see Merriam-Webster's definition below). I stated flat out that Les Bunning, in my opinion, has a conflict of interest if he prepares security for loans by the Foundation to the CFC. Les is part of the governance structure of the CFC and has been for many years. The aims of the CFC and the Foundation are not necessarily identical when it comes to loan transactions between the two. For one thing, if my understanding is correct, the Foundation has within its control those monies which represent the accumulated payments for life memberships. In my opinion the Foundation owes a duty of care to the life members with respect to those monies. A lawyer is asking for criticism of his actions if he tries to represent two or more clients in the same transaction whose aims are not identical. Conflicts of interest arise in the business/legal worlds every day of the week. You should know that, Peter. Further, just because someone has a conflict of interest does not mean they are a bad person. However, they are judged on how they deal with the conflict. Does all of this mean that the CFC and the Foundation can't take advantage of Les' freebie offer? Of course not. They can do whatever the hell they like.
