How Gingell’s beating 22 match ban
CORSHAM Town manager Mel Gingell is back in the changing room despite being ordered to serve a 22 match ban from football.
An administrative error by the Somerset FA, who dealt with Gingell's case, means The Reds manager can go into the changing room in the 10 minutes before kick-off and is also allowed into the changing room at half-time.
However, Gingell is still banned from the touchline.
Gingell was handed a 22-game ban by the Somerset FA in December for series of disciplinary offences from three games, two of them against neighbours Devizes Town.
But in their official letter to the Corsham boss giving details of the punishment, the Somerset FA failed to mention certain terms.
Gingell contacted the national FA, who said the contents of the letter could not changed as the Corsham manager had already started his ban.
Gingell has since received a letter of apology from the Somerset FA for the error.
The Corsham manager was delighted to profit from the mistake.
Gingell said: "That's a big bonus for me. It makes a lot of difference being able to do the team talk and I felt that was a lot better on Saturday.
"It just shows you they don't even know what they're doing. They say they mean something and then forget to put it into the letter."
