CTFC Press Release 12.05.09
Corsham Town Football Club will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Thursday 21st May 2009 at the Club House, Lacock Road, Corsham. The current committee is encouraging club members and interested parties to attend the meeting as a number of officer’s positions have become vacant.
The current Chairman, John Gingell, will be stepping down from his current position to take up a less active role in the running the club. John’s has been involved at Corsham Town Football Club in variety of roles over the past 40 years and is looking forward to just watching the matches on Saturday afternoon without any responsibility.
Treasurer John Cuthberson will also be leaving his post due to personal reasons, John has also been involved for many years since wearing the number one shirt for Corsham in his playing days, he will still be involved on match days and will help in other areas.
With a number of the committee choosing not to stand for re-election the club is actively seeking new officers and will welcome any interested parties who wish to put their names forward.
‘It has been a tough season and a few of us think it is time that a new bunch of members got involved in running the club’ says John Gingell, ‘most of the current committee have been involved for too many years to remember, we’ve built up an excellent facility at the Southbank and whilst money has been tight this year we have never gone into debt. This club is ready for the next step forward and I wish the club every success in finding my replacement’
The committee is also looking for help on match days and with the maintenance of the pitch and buildings. ‘We have a very small, loyal, group of fans that work their guts off, but we really need more people to get involved’
The committee has produced a list of the roles and responsibilities that the club require and they are hoping that people will attend the AGM and commit themselves to the club. ‘It might only be 15 minutes a week but it all helps’.
In the past 15 years Corsham Town has progressed from Wiltshire League Division Two to winning The Western League Premier title two years ago. There have been highs and lows during those years but there has always been a steady progression. These footballing achievements are unprecedented in Wiltshire in recent history; the next chapter is waiting to be written.
