What are your thoughts on the following? I'm not a Committee Member, but a concerned supporter.Changing circumstances such as the present and possibly long term financial situation of the country, high fuel costs, wetter and colder winters and lack of volounteers to run the club possibly means the club will have to reform in some way.
Q.1. Should the First team stay in the Western League Premier Division or should they drop into The Wiltshire League Premier Division where costs of travel and Match Officials would be a lot less, but gate receipts would also be a lot less?
Q.2. Should we then put the Reserves in The Trowbridge and District League for the same reasons?
Q.3. Should we keep the First Team in The Western League Premier Division but cease to run a loss making Reserve Team?
Q.4. Should we cease to run a loss making Youth Team?
Q.5.Should we start a Ladies Team if we cease to run a Reserve or Youth Team or both?
Q.6.Keep all three teams but charge each player in Reserves and Youth say £10 a game to play to cover expenses, and hope that more volounteers come to help run the club?
Q.7. Leave things as they are and possibly cease to exist in the near future?
Running three teams puts more work pressure on the dwindling number of volounteers many of whom are in their sixties.Three times the amount of work for Treasurer, Secretary, Groundsmen, Cleaners, Kit washers, Bar and Tea Hut Staff etc, etc.
If there were less teams playing on the pitch which unfortunately has no drainage system, it would be in a better condition and could accomodate more County Representative Games, Cup Semi-Finals and Cup Finals which all generate an excellent income.
Your comments would be appreciated.
