Step 7 Promotion Applicants Can't Post or Reply Privately
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We usually have a list by now but this year we haven't so thought I would start one. If anyone can add feel free, but I don't think there'll be much to add....sadly!!!
Combined Counties
Epsom Athletic and Old Farnboronians from Surrey Elitre, Southall from the Middlesex County
(I'm assuming Epsom will be allowed up, but will the CoCo be allowed to take OFs too as they are from the same division? I'm also assuming Southall haven't finished high enough?)
Spartan South Midlands
Baldock Town from Hertfordshire County Senior
The Top 3 in SSML Division One don't have lights so assuming no one going up?
Essex
No applicants
Kent
Bly Spartans are a possibility from the KIL
Sussex County
Newhaven and Saltdean United cleared for promotion to Div 2.
Wessex
No applicants, sadly
Western
The WL has 6 vacancies and 6 applicants from Step 7 leagues - Cheddar and Ashton & Backwell United from the SCL, Bristol Acadmey, Cribbs Friends Life and Tuffley Rovers from the GCL and Wincanton Town from the DPL. Only Cheddar and Cribbs Friends Life look to have done enough to take promotion though! Wincanton have an outside chance!
Hellenic
No applicants as far as I am aware?
United Counties
No applicants as far as I am aware, although AFC Rushden & Diamonds may be joining
Northern Counties East
Athersley Recreation, Cleethorpes Town, Dronfield Town, Knaresborough Town, Kinsley Boys, Pinxton and Westella & Willerby all officially applied.
Athersley, Knaresborough, Cleethorpes and Dronfield have all finished in promotion places so anyone's guess as to who and how many the NCEL will take?
Northern
Ryhope Colliery Welfare (passed) and Redcar Athletic (failed). No one from the NA applied.
North West Counties
South Sefton Borough withdrew their applicantion, Widnes Town have gone quite, which leaves only West Didsbury & Chorlton as potential newcomers and I don't know if they've finished high enouth in the Manchester League?
Midland Combo
Top two don't have lights- rumour circulating that the 4 clubs that DO have lights in that division will be promoted to bolster numbers in the dwindling Premier Division (if true, these would be Bromsgrove Sporting, Littleton, Phoenix United and West Midlands Police)
West Midlands Regional
Top three I don't think have lights so possibly another year of no movement.
East Midlands Counties
Rothley Imperial (from LSL - I'm assuming they've applied). Pinxton may have applied the EMCL as well as the NCEL. Basford United almost certainly haven't applied despite their lofty position!
South West Peninsula
Newquay confirmed as up from 1W, Liverton United from 1E (failing that then runners up Stoke Gabriel will go up)
Eastern
No applicants as far as I know
So in summary - really not many applicants this year, and hardly anyone that can go up - looks like Step 6 will shrink even further this year! The lack of fluidity and movement between Step 6 and 7 is becoming a serious problem in my opinion and its mainly due to ridiculous ground grading!
