There are a lot of wonderful people on this board to offer you support in going through with this and surviving it.
It is not going to be a cake walk, but the best advise I ever got and can pass along is to THINK POSITIVE!!!! There will be ups & downs but stay focused on the ups! My dentist explained it in a way that made a lot of sense...he said just think of it like someone who has lost an arm or leg and has to use a prosthesis. Of course they won't act exactly like your original teeth, but you will adjust using that positive attitude. I've known people that have fought the change and have made themselves miserable. If someone wakes up and says "I feel like crap", they have set themselves up for feeling like crap! If you say you can handle this, you can!
I got my uppers on March 20'th and already they feel a part of me. I was luckier than some I suppose and was eating burgers etc ater 2 weeks and steak, corn on the cob in 3 weeks.
It will take adjustment having these foreign objects in your mouth and you may experience somewhat of a gag reflex. Just remember that when you start eating solid food, to take smaller bites and chew thoroughly before swallowing.
As to recovery time, I had them done on a Thursday and was back at work on Monday. I don't work weekends, but if I did I could have gone on Saturday. You will be given a prescription for pain and antibiotics which should be just fine. I had oxycodone and didn't even use it after day 1.
As to getting pregnant...I see no reason why this should interfere with any of that. The only medicine you would be on are pain pills and antibiotics. Good luck on that plan too!!! Being a Mother is no doubt a much tougher thing to be than getting dentures lol
Let any of us know how we can help you and I am sure you will get any and all support you ask for...through the good and bad.
You will, in no time at all, wonder why you didn't do it sooner after you adjust and see a new, beautiful smile in your mirror. You won't be able to stop smiling, which is something you may not be doing much of with bad teeth...it will be a remarkable change for the positive!
Best of luck to you!
