Veneers cannot really correct bite issues such as over bite(over jet). Typically, it is also rather difficult to bond braces to veneers. We usually have people come in for braces prior to veneer placement as the veneer shape also depends on the bite as well as the position of the tooth.
As far as your speech, any issues should go away when you get used to them. Speak to an orthodontist about your issues (a consultation should be free) and they may be able to advise you better as to what you can do. Veneers mask problems, they do not really fix them. Too late now, but my suggestion would have been to get the braces first and go for veneers after.
