    A stain, maybe?

    I was in IA treatment for just over 8 months and have been wearing the final tray as a retainer for close to 2 years (if not longer) ever since — but have never had that problem.

    If it is a surface stain, it probably can be removed by your dentist's hygienist. Also, if you ever have whitened your teeth at home and have any whitening product left, you could put a dab into the space that corresponds with that tooth and see if that removes it.

    Although I've never used them, I believe I've also seen OTC toothpastes that claim to remove dental stains like those caused by tobacco.
