    Hi Donna,
    If the cold only lasts for a short period of time it's pretty normal. Most dentists don't do anything for cold sensitivity unless it's local to one tooth and lasts for longer than about 30 seconds. Do you have sensitivity to heat or sweets? That would be more telling to a failing nerve.

    Your teeth may just becoming sensitive due to, uh,..age, too. As we get older, the dentine in the tooth becomes more exposed. Try using toothpaste for sensitive teeth and don't scrub your gums. It makes the gums recede.

    If you've just been to the dentist and everything was OK, try the toothpaste. It did WONDERS for my sensitive teeth. After about two weeks I was pain free!
