Re: feel being taken out to the cleaner

Hi, Chris . . .
Looking at those numbers, I can see several charges that were more than I paid . . . but to some extent that can be explained.
e.g., Although I believe most dentists charge for a panoramic x-ray, my dentist included them in the free consultation offered to prospective patients. (Still, that would account for only $95.00 of the difference between your total cost and mine.)
Also, if I remember correctly, mine charged a little less for the extraction and part of that was covered by my dental insurance.
NOTE: Although dental insurance generally does not cover implants, if you are enrolled in a dental plan, you might want to check with them to see if that extraction is covered. Depending on your benefits, it may even cover part of the cost of your crowns. (Our coverage was so skimpy that between my extraction and part of the cost of a replacement crown, there was nothing left.)
As I recall, placement of my implant was considerably less. (Just $1,800, if my memory is correct. But I did not need any additional work on my gums, so maybe that's included in your $2,700 fee.)
The bottom line, however, remains the same. As long as you have not signed a contract or have 6 days left to cancel your treatment, you probably can back out without a penalty to pay.
If I were you, I would use those 6 days to do more research: by finding out (a) exactly what procedures are required and their costs . . . (b) what other dentists with comparable skills, reputation and amenities (e.g., state-of-the art equipment . . . comfortable environment, etc.) charge for the same work . . . and by scheduling at least a couple of consultations to gauge my feelings about working with with each of those dentists.
Above all, I would not sign anything until I at least sensed that I had a found a dental practice that inspired my confidence and which I felt I could trust.
