Hi, MG . . . I'm always glad to recommend the practice.

Although the staff has changed a little since the website was set up, the basic information is unchanged.

You did not mention where in SoCal you live, but FYI , they now have several offices around the County, but the one I've alwas visited is in Huntington Beach (diagonally across from the 5 Points Shopping Center, and just a few miles from the water, down Beach Boulevard.

As you may have gathered from my past messages, I was in pretty dire straits when I first contacted him (Had been advised by an insurance dentist that I had an emergency that needed immediate attention. Luckily, I also realized instinctively that while the diagnosis probably was accurate, the "messenger" definitely was the wrong one for me.

A friend who ran the office for a maxillofacial practice recommended the CD who collaborated with them on crown work, but as it turned out, he was not sure that the maxillofacial doc who would place the implant would provide the immediate loading implant device I preferred. . . and when I called to schedule an appointment wth him, I learned that he had cut back on his work schedule, due to a serious medical condition.

It was sheer luck that morning when I opened the newspaper and saw an ad from one of his primary competitors, offering that type of implant. Not only was his office less than 10 minutes from my home, but I knew from a previous project I had worked on that he had pioneered implants in OC almost 20 years earlier . . . and on top of that, he offered free consultations.

Having absolutely nothing to lose at that point, I immediately called for an appointment and saw him that afternoon. By the time I left his office (about 90 minutes later), I felt like I had struck gold . . . and by the following week, impressions were already being taken for my temps.

That all happened in the summer of 2003 and I haven't had a single regret since.

Obviously I can't guarantee that you (or any other patient) will feel the same way — because so much depends on intangibles (like past dental history, current expectations, personality mix, etc.).

But what I can tell you with confidence is that i think he's a terrific dentist — informed on all the latest advances, but not overly eager to push them if other approaches are better for a patient; . . . willing to answer any and all questions, without looking around for a clock . . . able to maintain a balance between professionalism and treating patients like valued "friends" . . . etc.

The one caveat I would offer is that in order to maintain his large patient clientele and provide a full range of services as needed, he has always had an "associate" on staff from my first visit forward. Although they have assisted him in treating me occasionally (e.g., when my implant was placed —and, I believe, once when he was out of town — I can't offer any opinion based on experience, regarding his current associate — except that I believe they have been working together for several years.

IOW, since you have asked for my opinion and recommendation, I would heartily recommend the practice, but suggest that you try to schedule your appointment with the primary caregiver, if possible.

Aside from that, the best source of answers probably is his website: http://www.dentalimplantoc.com.

    Hope this info is helpful.

    cs
