    Hi, Valerie . . .

Sorry to read about your problem.

I cn identify somewhat with what you are experiencing, because I had an alergic reaction, too . . . not to dental adhesive, but to some unidentified product I was using after my temps were placed (or posibly during my InvisAlign treatments.Whatever it ws caused my lps to swell up so much, a couple of friends suspected (but were too "kind" to ask" . . . if I had just had collagen injections.

I don't recall if we ever fiured out the cause, but do remember following my dentist's suggestion that I try using brace wax as a barrier between my teeth and lips.

As for the adhesive, myd etnst used a temp cement for both my temp bridge and permanent crowns, as well. Hwevr, I had no problem with them at all.

I was, concerned though, about how secure my crowns would be; but he assured me that cementing products come in different strengths, and that even though theone he had used on me worked well with temps, it also was OK for permanen crowns.

As it urned out, it was a bonus for me, because as you may recall he eventually decided the best way to correct a problem I had was to replace the perms. But before doing it, he wanted to give my gums an opportunity to recover fully. It ended up takign somewhere between 18 and 24 months, but during that time, we just upgraded old fillings . . . took care of a couple of new problems and completed my IA treatments. But when they time came, he was able to just "pop off" the original permanent crowns.

I believe (but am not sure) he used a simialr product for the new ones, but if so, it's never been a problem for me.

As for whether all dentists are as stubborn as you feel yours is, I guess my answer is obvious. I've mentioned how lucky I believe I am so often, I hate to mention it again, because I know some readers are sure to feel I'm rubbing their wounds with salt.

What I mention less often, however, is tht I haven''t always been as lucky in the past. In general, though, if I felt my concerns were not being heard . . . thanks to good dental genes, I was able to walk away without having invested enough $$$ to make it impractical.

(Hope this legible; have to run without checking my typing . . .

    cs
