Looking for info on choosing a Cosmetic Dentist?

I looks like I may have to go the route of an upper deture.The problem is my gag reflex.I can gag on a toothbrush or even putting my finger near the back of the roof of my mouth.When I have x-rays taken it is bad.Will an upper denture cause this reaction?If so what can I do about it?
