While the kits to which you referred may produce a decent mouth guard, any irregularities will be your responsibility. In my case, although no dentist ever recommended as mouth guard to me before, my InvisAlign treatment "after care" required the use of upper/lower guards (similar to regular mouth guards) for retention. Only then, did I discover that I've probably been as clencher for years, which was the only explanation I could think of for sometimes having to almost pry the guards apart in the morning. . .In fact, I must have been doing it with such vengeance that at one point pressure from my upper canine tooth actually made a hole in the opposing guard. At that point, my dentist ordered a replacement made of firmer acrylic for me. When it was delivered, it had a couple of tiny rough spots, which he was glad to correct. I'm not sure I would have attempted that myself had I ordered the guard myself. Finally, in case you are concerned about comfort, I can tell you that (maybe because mine are so similar to the InvisAlign trays I had worn for the previous 8 months) in the now approximately 3 years I've had them, they've been as breeze to wear. Although I was only told to use them as few nights a week, I hardly ever miss as night.
