Re: full mouth extraction and immediate full dentures

As someone who began wearing partial dentures at like 20 I can see why both you and she are very upset. I would urge you to seek at least one more opinion. If you go ahead and get her teeth extracted now, it is forever. Sure, implants can be used to replace teeth but if there are other options, go for them first. Dentures should be the last resort.

Dentures are not the end of the world but if they can be avoided in a young person they should be. As far as a social life, once she adapts to them, she will be as normal as the next girl. Modern dentures look very realistic and for the most part, unless she wants people to know, I doubt they can tell.

Dating may present some challenges but she is young and has a lot of life ahead of her. She should never say never.

There is a young woman on this board who is about 19 or 20 who has dentures and posts frequently. I am sure she would be a good resource for your daughter.

I had to get full dentures in my mid 30's and really have not looked back.

Good luck and feel free to ask questions-

    Barbara
