I'm the worst gagger in the world and for the first 5 years of wearing dentures I was miserable. I live in Tampa Bay and found a dentist who made me a palate-less upper denture. It changed my life. As another poster said, it's shaped like a horseshoe and covers the gums like any other denture. The difference is the "vault" or arch of the hard palate is left open. The only thing to keep in mind is that with a palate-less denture you will need to use adhesive to keep them in place because you don't have the suction on the roof of your mouth.
