    I've already responded to your question (above) . . . but your dentist's assistant definitely is wrong.

    My first set of permanent porcelain-fused-to-gold crowns (4 top front ones) held fast with temp cement for close to 2 years.

    The ones that replaced them also were attached with temp cement (around 2005 or 2006) And have never come loose — even though I've bitten into apples, corn, etc with them.
