Looking for info on choosing a Cosmetic Dentist?

Is it normal for veneers to pop off after 3 weeks? I went to the dentist 3 weeks after my new veneers were installed and the cleaning person said one of them came off while he was cleaning. The dentist to a look and asked me if I had these done in a third world country. He said I do not want to knock the dentist but he was brave to put a veneer on a molar and eye teeth, "I would have used a crown". Is this true?
