Looking for info on choosing a Cosmetic Dentist?

Bad bridge

I had 8 implants put into my upper mouth. (Fortunately I had received a small inheritance to pay for this!) The implant dentist sent me to a prosthodontist to give me a bridge. I knew nothing and trusted him entirely. He charged me $33K for a 14-crown bridge!!! I choked but paid it. I wanted the best. Did I get it? NOT.Instead of giving me a high noble porcelain/metal bridge, he gave me a far cheaper acrylic/metal. It's been in 4 months and 4 teeth have broken (he has repaired them at no charge of course). One of them broke while I was on vacation so I went to a local dentist to have it repaired. That dentist clued me in that I have been seriously had!!! He said a 14-crown acrylic bridge will continue to break, it is inferior work, not even up to industry standards. He said he was appalled to see this kind of work coming from the Boston area--especially at the price I paid. When I asked him why my dentist would try such a thing, he said, "the only thing I can think of is to save on lab fees and make more profit. Acrylic bridges are far cheaper for him than high noble porcelain. I can't think of any other reason." This case will probably go to the Dental Licensing Board here--and maybe to court. BUYER BEWARE. This guy graduated from Harvard with Honors and has received awards from Tufts Dental School! (Who can you trust nowadays?) Do your homework before going for any major dental work. The sharks are in the water...
