First of all, let me say that I mistyped --- I will try to be more clear. I initially had 4 Empress crowns which were placed there for cosmetic purposes. All my work was done by the same dentist. He decided the proper length..After about 6 mos. .One of the front teeth chipped. In his absence (he was on vacation)so I went to the dentist he suggested, for repair. He was the one that suggested tht I needed a night guard. In the meantime, I also had tooth pain which resulted in my needing a bridge which included the 3 front teeth. My doctor agreed to replace the bridge as long as I paid for the night guard b/c another tooth had chipped as well. At that time, He changed labs as he said the one he had gone to in California did not make bridges (Mac Labs)and he switched to a LAVA bridge which ws not as natural looking as the Empress crowns.
Re: Color. We had always gone with B1 as the primary color and I had always been satisfied when the Empress crowns were in my mouth. When the LAVA bridge came back I immediately thought they looked too opague and too yellow..they also felt too bulky in my mouth and too thick - I told the dentist this and I alsoo felt they look like buck teeth...He said they needed to in order to support the length? He then shortened them and shaved themm down I told him I thouoght they were too short and he said they could not be any longer. He then sent them back too the lab...When they came back they were extremely white. He said he had the lab strip them down b/c they were too yellow and went with a whiter color..closer to Hollywood white..I asked what happened to Bi and he said that b/c they are different materials they look a little different besides front teeth are suppoosed to be whiter and brighter. I also asked if I could live with them a little while and see them in different lite and was told that the adhesive that they had was only for temporaries. The difference in the color makes me feel self conscious.
BTW I am paying for the night guard. First of all, I did not DEMAND any particular length he chose the length of the crowns initially, Isnt it possible that he just made them too short.. Why are you assuming that I am being difficult? I was not consulted regarding color and I am just asking for the bridge to be a tad longer...I am open to feedback but I just dont get where I am the one at fault here and he is trying to placate me...the difficult patient. Pls. explain?
As the cosmetic dentist...if he thought that the bridge should not be made as long as the crowns why did he not tell me or why did he not tell me that it would mean that they would have too be thick and protrude...should that not have been discussed or should that just be accepted. I am very confused.
