Partial denture?

Does anyone have partial dentures? I had 4 bicuspids extracted on the bottom a few months ago and I was already missing my second molars. I opted to get an acrylic lower partial denture which clasps onto my 1st molars. My dentist is not very supportive because he doesn't feel partials are a valid replacement option. I opted for a partial because it was the most affordable. My question is after several adjustments I no longer have sore spots but I find it difficult to keep the denture in longer than a few hours. My whole mouth and jaw gets tired and sore. Is this normal? I've had it about a month and did have a soft reline. It fits great no longer slips but it is just not comfortable. Is this normal? Is this the best I can expect?
