Hi KJ,
Mine was called a "removable metal partial". An RMP. It was cast from impressions and made of a metal base and acrylic teeth. My dentist did nothing to my anchor teeth at all.

I found it quite comfortable from the very beginning. I only went once for a slight adjustment when it got a bit looser. Other than that, I was very happy with it. Had I not gotten the implants already, I think I could have been very happy with it.
