That depends if the 2nd molar was on top or bottom and how old I was, and how much money I had.

If money were no object, get the implant.

If the 2nd molar were on top, I would probably just extract and leave well enough alone.

If it was a lower molar, I would get an implant as the opposing top molar would continue to drop down with no replacement molar.

Lots of people live comfortably without their 2nd molars. You still have your wisdom teeth and if you don't replace the molar than the tooth behind it (wisdom) will eventually slide or tip forward into the space.

I hope I was of help. I really like my implants.
