Looking for info on choosing a Cosmetic Dentist?
Posted by Barbara on 11/20/2011, 6:49 am, in reply to "For Barbara: "Post" vs Implant"
D, I am referring to the implant as a post because that is what it looks like when inserted into the gums. From what I have been told the above the gum portion of the implant is sometimes called a "locator". I am not all that familiar with all of the terminology nor the processes. Plain old dentures, false teeth, whatever you want to call them- been there, am there!
The term over denture is sometimes used to describe where they place a couple of these things into the jaw-usually lower and there is a corresponding receptacle in the denture that fits tightly over the "male" portion thus stabilizing the denture.
I hope this helps you.
