Looking for info on choosing a Cosmetic Dentist?
Posted by Carl on 11/21/2011, 2:42 pm, in reply to "Re: Having all lower teeth removed"
Hey Patti,
Well ....... you have mentioned a still yet "touchy" subject, when it comes to Social Security Disability ! lol. Unfortunately .... I went through a 5+ year "dog & pony show" with the disability process.
It all started in 2004 when I became unable to continue working and had no choice but to file for benefits. Needless to say that, after "3" claims filed and using 3 different so called
disability expert" attorneys, I was strung along to a point just after my benefit time ran out, before they found me disabled. This despite the fact that I had a small book for a file with all of the doctors I'd seen, surgeries I'd had and letters from no less than 4 'specialty' drs. ranging from my current primary MD, a Neurologist, Rheumatologist and Internist. Still they let my time run out and so, I was forced to settle for SSI.
Now, due to the fact that I had to settle for SSI and the only insurance I can have is Medicaid, since I won't be eligible for Medicare until I turn 62, then add to this, Missouri don't have adult dental coverage even though dr. after dr. has stated that bad teeth leads to so many other health problems, brings me to the sad state I find myself in ?.
I would love to be able to have implants and be able to find a specialist that would accept a payment plan !. However, I have no idea what kind of shape my jawbone is in, although I've never been told that they we're questionable ?. When I had the uppers all taken out, the dentist also scraped the bone and he stated it looked pretty healthy ?.
Anyway, congratulations on your good fortune and I hope you enjoy your new "overdentures" ..... which I've only briefly read about but they seem to be a really good choice. I wish that I could be blessed in that way !.
But for now, first things first, getting these 10 remaining lower teeth out (I know I'll feel 95% better when I do) .... and then go on a search for a pros-orthodontist or denturest that can help me ?.
FYI: no, I can't have my case "re-opened" to argue for SSDI. Once I accepted this decision, I can't pursue it any more ... all I can do is, struggle through until I turn 62.
I'll stay in touch,
Carl
