Hi, Carl . . .

Hope you don't take the next few lines as criticism, because that's not my intent. They are just an observation regarding how one's personal situation can affect the way we interpret things.

For example, while I can understand why Wondering's message might have struck a chord for you and Patti (or anyone else relying on financial assistance to make ends meet), my interpretation was different.

It sounded to me that Wondering was speaking as someone who might have preferred implant supported dentures, but settled for an alternative instead because, as it is for many people, the cost of implants was beyond his/her budget. If s/he did not qualify for financial aid (or had never experienced the need to apply for it) seeking such assistance may not even have crossed his/her mind.

If so, the question probably was as innocent as it sounded. (i.e., How DO people manage the cost of implant supported dentures (or for that matter, even individual implants) . . . especially
in this economy? (Of course if anyone has an answer to that, bottling the solution and selling it would take care of the cost for that person pretty quickly.)

As for explaining to anyone else why you are receiving aid . . . there's no need to. Although it's true that some people try to game the system, it's getting harder to do, especially when the the government is the source of the assistance. Not only are applicants usually closely screened, but recipients continuously have to prove that they still qualify.

There's also really no reason to respond to rude comments or answer questions unless doing so makes you feel better. Remember . . . if you are receiving government assistance, it's only because as a citizen you meet the requirements for programs you have paid into (one way or another), according to your ability.
