Fixed Bridge after removing my braces

I have my braces and treatment is about to end by next month. However, I have 1 missing tooth on the upper (back) part. My dentist recommends having a fixed bridge on the missing tooth as he said, my teeth might move/change the position after removing my braces because of the space (missing tooth). Is this really true? And if I go for fixed bridge (with crowns), is this safe? Or the two adjacent teeth will not be affected?
