Bad Dentistry?

Over a year ago I had a root canal due to an infection and later had my teeth removed and had a bridge put in its place. I believe that infection was never solved because the pain from the bridge was immediate and still last to this day(over a year later). Does anyone know why this is happening and/or if I should look further in to this dentist not doing her job correctly?
