Building on what cs had to say ... When dentists go out of the country for crown fabrication, lead and other heavy metals are sometimes used instead of gold or noble metals. Time to ask some serious questions about the origin of the crowns. Or, it could be that the crowns came in and your dentist didn't like something about them and sent the impressions back for a re-do. Either way, questions should get you good answers.
