Looking for info on choosing a Cosmetic Dentist?

Colin,
What you describe is not that unusual. Any changes to the shape of teeth, even something as monor as a simple filling can greatly affect the alignment of the teeeth/jaws and ultimately therefore musculature of the tempero mandibular joint. The way teeth meet is incredibly accurate and very complex and a lot of dentists do not realise the impact operative dentistry can have.I can only speak in generalisations since I cannot see your teeth but my guess is that you have now been put into what we on this side of the pond call a locked occlusion. Generally for comfort when you close your teeth together where they overlap at the front the bottom front should not touch the back of the top front, only when sliding the lower jaw forwards and down will they meet. As I say this is only a generalisation as everyones jaw relationship is different. You can probably quite easily check this if you buy a simple sports mouthguard which has the effect of seperating the teeth, and allows the joint to distalise into the correct position. If this makes it feel more comfortable you mught get away with grinding the lowers to create clearance or they may need remaking to "unlock" the occlusion.
Hope this helps let me know
