Looking for info on choosing a Cosmetic Dentist?

I am completely disappointed with my new veneers!!! I had tiny teeth and a very gummy smile and had crown lengthening prior to the veneers.
My dentist is excellent at restorations and when I asked about veneers, he showed me a stack of photos with great results.
I actually drove 1 1/2 hours to the dental lab for custom color match and watched the technician sketch shading for reference.
My dentist never did any try in and just starting permanently cementing the veneers. I asked to see them and he laid them on for 2 seconds and said to be careful as they will fall off. I had no opportunity to approve of the size, shape or color. I asked about altering the color with the cement and he said that he could. I also mentioned that the dental lab tech said that many times she actually comes to the office with her supplies and can tweak the color. The dentist commented that he only has the tech come when there is only 1 tooth to match not 6.
The final veneers look fake, huge, too white and opaque and now there are tiny triangle gaps between the teeth. I am so distraught! I wrote a letter explaining my disappointment and have a follow up.
Please give advice.
