Looking for info on choosing a Cosmetic Dentist?
Posted by Trudijane on 6/12/2012, 1:00 am, in reply to "Re: Great news @ implant"
I need 2 implants. I can't stand the feeling of having 2 big holes in my mouth where a molar should be.
My periodontist says he charges less than most. Each implant costs $2400 (and as far as I know, Delta Dental does NOT cover implants as I had one a few years ago and they did not cover that or the IV sedation). Then, it has to heal and then you have to pay for a crown which is also expensive. But if you time it right and you have insurance, you can get them to pay 80% of the cost of the crown which would still require me to pay $800 per crown.
What bothers me is having to pay $2400 per implant. If I was able to get used to the big holes in my mouth, I would not do anything, but I feel I should. My mouth feels so depressingly uncomfortable! The only good thing is that getting an implant and crown is a long process so it gives you time to spread out the payments.
I just had one big molar extracted this week. It will take 3-6 months to heal enough for an implant (after the bone graft). Then, it will take another 6 months to heal to put a permanent cap on the implant. So, it gives you more time to pay.
Is there any way I can get my insurance company to help me with the cost of implants. My periodontist was nice enough to subtract $50 for the sedation last week. All I did was ask and he said ok. I don't want to be awake when he does the implant, so that is an additional $150 with no insurance coverage.
There goes my retirement money.
