Looking for info on choosing a Cosmetic Dentist?

Last week I was brushing my teeth only to find that my front top tooth broke/fell out.
When I was a child I had a root canal done on it then a filling in my early 20's, the filling fell out and was replaced. The tooth was very small to begin with so it just broke off. I still have the remaining part in my gum.
I immediately went to my dentist that morning he advised me that my only option would be to have my partial remade adding this tooth as I have an impacted tooth which would block me getting an implant. I scheduled my appointment to have this taken care of and went to the oral surgeon yesterday. I was prepared to have the remaining tooth pulled and then have my new partial fitted and I would be off. Well the oral surgeon said he would need to cut my gum to be able to pull the tooth then he would need to put in a bone graft/mesh because I would have a hole where the tooth was. I was also seeing him for another molar and the possibility of having crown lengthening done. The surgeon was insistent that i be put to sleep. It was all too much for me and I opted to leave and think about what I want to do with both teeth. I also want to get a second opinion. I just got a bad feeling about this guy and feel like he's just out to get my money.
So my question is...do I really need to have the bone grafting done? He mentioned putting in a mesh where the bone can regrow over. I have my natural tooth on the one side then several partial teeth on the other side of where my new missing tooth is. Do I need to worry about the bone caving? I'm just not sure if I should do the mesh or not. My insurance doesn't cover the bone grafting so I would be paying 400.00 for that and don't want to pay this if its not necessary. Also I don't see why I would need to be put to sleep. I'm okay with getting dental work. I've been though enough of it in my day. When I was 14 I had to have 7 baby teeth pulled in one sitting while I was awake.
Please let me know your thoughts on the bone grafting/mesh. Is it worth getting or not needed?
