jean . .You didn't mention your age, but the truth is now that lifespans have been extended, most people eventually need cataract surgery.
Simply put, the procedure involves replacing the cloudy lens of the eye with a fresh, new plastic lens.
Depending on the condition of the eye and the surgeon operating on it, patients are sometimes fitted with one lens that allows him/or her to see things up close more clearly, and one lens (on the second eye) for distant viewing.
In such cases, the patient often can see both near and far away without glasses. When that occurs, the patient is said to have "monovision.
