dentures

Hi im 24 years old and because of years of bad oral hygiene i now have to get full upper dentures and partial bottoms. Well i was wondering how long of a wait i would have to deal w/ before getting the dentures because the dentist said i would have to do the 6 to 8 weeks for my paperwork to get the okay but she also told me that i would be going 4 months w/ out teeth, and this worries me. im wondering if there's anyway that they can give me temporary dentures until i can actually get my real ones or what? also what do they expect me to do for eating if i do have to wait for the 4 months
