Thank you for your reply, Carroll C. Kakac. No I don't recognize the Kakac name or the other three names you mentioned. Thank you for telling us where Lisna is located. Our Josef Varak was born 20 March 1842, in Lisna, Moravia, Bohemia, according to his obituary. We are told Josef was an orphan. He married Maria M Krivanek about 1860 or so, in Bohemia. Their children, all born before coming to the USA in about 1878, are: Josephine Lestina, Frank Varak, Emma/Anna Swattosh, Joseph Varak, Wesley/Vincent Varak & there's a mention of a "Vesta" in some of the obituaries. This family went to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before moving to Boone, Iowa. We don't know anything of Josef's siblings yet. Maybe you have given us clues to locate more information about Josef in the old homeland. Do any of our names seem familiar to you? We'll let you know if we can find a connection to your family.
