Hi Anna,
Don't know if you'll get this but I happened across your message while Googling a family member. I don't know if this helps but I have CHERNICK's on the Russian side of my family. My great-grandmother's parents came from Russia. One of their daughters, Margaret Davis, married an Ed Chernick. I don't know much about that part of my family at all so that's all I can contribute. Maybe the name has changed over the years, like so many do.
Anyhow, hope all is well with you and yours.
