Kathy:
My father, Frank Brabec, left Bohemia just after the turn of the century...in fact, he just barely escaped being involved in WWI, since he had first moved to Germany. I will have to get back to you regarding where he was born, I have that somewhere. My mother was born just outside of Prague and left about the same time my dad did, although they had not yet met. I know that my dad had a couple of brothers, but they did not come over with him. His father came over, but returned to Europe. I never really found out much about my dad's family.
: I am researching my Brabec ancestors from
: Kestrany, Bohemia. Mathias (Matje) Brabec
: was married to Barbora Mrkvicka and they
: had seven childre - Jan, Joseph, Mary,
: Anna, Frank, Mathias and Rosalie. Barbora
: died in Bohemia in 1848. Mathias came to
: America with the oldest five children in
: 1853. The youngest children - Mathias and
: Rosalie stayed in Bohemia. Not sure what
: happened to them. Would like to have
: contact with anyone researching the Brabec
: surname from the Kestrany area.
: Thank you,
: Kathy
