"The point I was making is that all lines in all dogs will experience some problems when overly inbred. I base some of my opinion of JEL dogs, on a dog I got from him. Would you like me to elaborate? "
by all means go ahead! not all dogs are good and not all work out... people learn more from broken dogs than right ones... im sure there is someone that could get on here and tell of dogs they got from you that didnt work out... and that can be said about any breeder... it's all in %'s....
"I have always quitely followed the progress of many strains over the years. I remember in the late 90's JEL was advertising breedings with something like 25X - 50X Bama Boy. You tell me what ever happened to those dogs? I think it is safe to say they did'nt exactly tear up the Bulldog world. "
thats the black dogs that have the high # of bama boy i believe, i cant say for sure... and yes they are still out there, and doing fine...
"I think your dog Tic Tic Boom is pretty much just a straight outcross...right? I don't even know if they are any pure JEL dogs, or pure Kershner dogs left, as both those strains have been around for awhile, and both those breeders ran generations pretty fast which would excellerate their respective lifespans and crash points of the strains. If that is the case this whole subject is moot anyway. "
yes he is a who daughter from who's dam.. coi on tics mom was close to 60%... thats as tight as i wanted to go, so i outcrossed and got exactly what i wanted... im gonna breed him back to a felony daughter... i guess we will see what i have from that when they are 2...
yes there are pure jel dogs left, they are all pretty old though... i think richard m in tezas has a few young ones he is working with
"BTW, I am not knocking your dogs. By all accounts Who was a good worker when he was alive, and I liked your Tic Tic Boom dog when I saw him. Of all the dogs at the ABNA Nationals he was the best looking Bulldog I saw.
Good luck with your dogs,
Dave "
appreciate the comments.... good luck with yours as well
