Gary,
It could be just as you say. I did state I thought Doc's Pete's dam was unknown, and I was just guessing at what she was based on the traits of Doc's Pete, and what he threw. There was a guy named Bill Bralock, or something like that, in Texas that had a big Pete X Landshark male that was also very hot tempered, but was pie bald instead of solid like Vader and Dixie. I do think there was some AB in that mix whether it was put there by Casey or Gerald I don't know. I do know that whole generation of breeders that Casey was contemporary with, all claimed that the other breeders bred ABPT into the other respective lines...most of 'em were right...while they did the same thing themselves. Gerald did get alot of black brindle dogs, but then he bred so many dogs he got just about everything under the sun.
The Man O War story just reeks of a lie. And having spoke with AB breeders for the last 20 years I have heard a few of them. They should just call it the Doc's Pete line starting at it's known origin. Too often folks defend a lie in self percieved self interest. The Man O War story has much more mystique, than the Casey story. But I have had it with lies. Phok lies. To me, there is'nt that much difference between folks who repeat lies, and folks who make 'em up. They are still lies.
Dave
