Gerald had many dogs, and they certainly did not all come from the same source, even though their peds all magically list the legendary mythical MOW. It is entirely possible Gerald had pit x mastiff crosses, but Gerald himself states that he got Doc's Pete from a man in Patriot Indaina at the very same time frame C.C. lived in Patriot Indiana. C.C. also claimed he sold Gerald a pit during that time frame. The popluation of Patriot Indiana is around 200 people. Doc's Pete was a what Gerald called Silver brindle, which would fit right into that profile of C.C. dogs perfectly. What do you think the odds are Gerald got got Doc's Pete from a third party dog breeder of Silver pits (somewhat rare at that time) in Patriot Indiana? I would say slim to none. Bull Mastiffs and Mastiff do not throw the color Doc's Pete was. That color reoccurred consistently in his progeny. The evidence is overwheliming as to the origin of Doc's Pete. Now, if someone were to argue the orgin of some of Geralds other dogs, they may make a compelling case for pit X mastiff crosses, such as his dog Gorilla Man. But my guess would be Bullmastiff X pit, not mastiff.
Any picture could be labled MOW. It means nothing.
The proof is in the pudding, as they say.
Dave
