Years ago when I was deer hunting with some guys I knew we were doing drives. Meaning we would take turns pushing and standing. Pushers would walk through the woods to the standers waiting ahead, in hopes a deer would be spooked toward them.
The thing is we were all veteran deer hunters all with years experience. So we ad a trick we would do. Which was have the standers climb the trees .wit h tree spikes and a climbing belt and set up a very small light wt aluminium stand about 15-18 feet up to see over the brush. It worked great until my turn came and the drivers (people pushing the woods)started the drive to early. I was about 15 Ft up the tree and I look down and there is a buck right under me.
Thank God my gun was loadedbut it was on the ground. I had to pull it up by the string and shot the deer hanging from the tree by my tree climbing belt with my stand on my back.
Lesson is always keep your gun loaded and your safety on.lol
