That quarter reale is a darn good find. How big is it? I found the silver coin in the photo at the Taylor Inn stagestop and inn site. It's worn slick except for some very faint markings on one side, hard to see but maybe they show in the photo. Was told it was a quarter reale by a guy who collects coins but never knew for sure. Jimmy got a 1776 half reale there and Tony Reeves got a 1731 reale only a few yards from where I found this coin. The markings that's visible on the coin in the photo are similar to markings on one side of the coins Jimmy and Tony found so if it's about the same size as your coin I guess it could be a quarter reale. The coins Jimmy and Tony found are the two oldest coins that I and my detecting buddies have heard of being found in this area.
