We have had some warm weather the last week and most of the snow is gone now. So tonight I took the GoldTrax-6X9 out to an old one room school site. Its nice to research a site and find a sign showing that I actually found it
Here's part of the field where the school yard used to be, the other half is to the right of the picture and was planted in canola last summer
There are bushes near the road, I sniffed around in there and found part of the old foundation
Because of the straw laying on the field, it insulates the dirt from any warmth, most of the ground was still frozen solid, had to leave several good sounding signals until it thaws out The other half of the field is canola stubble, its terrible to hunt because of the thick stalks. Cranked up the disc a bit and only attempted to dig good solid signals
Spent quite a bit of time wandering around checking out the site. There are 2 very trashy areas, 1 where the school was and 1 where the barn once stood. Lots of big iron everywhere, saw at least 10 cast iron legs off the old desks on the surface. Very quiet away from the trashy building sites but that should be the playground where the kids played, it'll take a few hunts to cover the 2-3 acres. Only found one coin near the foundation, a '39 penny and also an old bent broach missing all the stones and its attaching pin. Sure felt good getting back in the field again, hopefully it wont be long before I can dig all the targets I come across HH Kevin
