Hi Jbird,
A while back on Carl's forum you asked me had I tried out the GB mode smoothing feature and maybe even the autotune speed up in the gold country of California, At the time I was still and even today in the learning stages on the GoldTrax.
However, Since then I have learned a few of the many GoldTrax features that once stumbled me...I'm glad to report that I finally learned how to use the GB mode smoothing feature, But still fall short on the autotune speed.
What I am seeing is much greater sensitivity on the smaller bits and pieces of foil when I increase the all-metal sens, And the GB smoothing mode greatly quiets down the detector with this higher sensitivity.
Next, Will make the long trip up to the gold country in about a month and try out this neat GB smoothing mode with the higher sens in the mineralized ground. I can see it will greatly improve my chances of finding the smaller size gold nuggets, Or bits and pieces of bird shot 
Can't wait to get up there in the gold hills
