I took the Cointrax to the big soccer field at the sports complex down the street this afternoon. It was so wet that water was squishing out of the ground with every step but got the silver pendant thing in the photo, probably from a bracelet based on it's size, and a few clad.
The photos below are of two rings I found in the early 1990's at the old football field. The one on the left is a generic class ring from the depression era that's made from pot metal. Most students in this area couldn't afford a gold or silver class ring and one like in the photo was a cheap substitute, but some couldn't even afford those. The other ring is huge, and although it looks like silver it's not. It had been there awhile as it was around 6 inches deep. Whatever the metal is it's really hard and didn't tarnish at all. The setting is gone but the ring came out of the ground just as shiny as new money. Whatever it's made from it's very low in the conductive range, as big as it is it ID's as foil. A magnet won't stick to it so it may be stainless, but I don't think so. The band was cut and bent to overlap so it would fit someone with a smaller finger than it was made for, I tried to bend it back with pliers but it's so hard I didn't have any luck. Any ideas as to what it might be made from?
