You're right about the discrimination control setting the tone break. It has a click stop when turned all the way to the left, that puts it in motion all metal mode. Click it on and iron and small foil are rejected with no audio response and all other targets give a high tone, setting the disc knob to about the 12 o,clock position gives low tones most foil, nickels and some tabs, mixed tone on the older style tabs and high tones on bottlecaps/zincs and up. It has a fairly fast recovery speed and more depth than the either of the Golden Sabre II's I had. It works pretty darn well considering it's only about $90 for a new one. If you don't mind I'll take the battery cover, will send mail. Thanks again.
