A few years ago I hunted an old orchard area near Fredricksburg, Texas. Most of the old trees had been removed and the land converted to pasture and hay field. We were trying to locate the site of an old dance hall that was supposed to have been on that site back before it was an orchard. Two other guys, one with an XLT and one with a DFX, and I were making long sweeps trying to locate trash that would have indicated the dance hall site but getting almost no signals. The only detector I had with me was a Nautilus IIb and I was occassionally hitting on the brass ends of shotgun shells at 12 to 14 inches that the other two guys couldnt hear. It wasnt exactly a wasted day. The weather was nice.
