This moring I took the GMT 1650 to a homesite I've hunted several times with several different detectors. Only got one coin, a ratty 1907 penny, but that's one more coin than the last three or four times I hunted there. Also got a couple of tax tokens, a flat button and assorted junk. The door hinge pin is iron but has a corroded brass stop on one end. In disc mode it gave a short, fast signal but in all metal mode it gave a fairly short signal in one direction and long signal the other direction. The 1650 was responding to the brass in disc mode but not the iron pin. Wish the Barons were as good in iron as the 1650, or the 1650 had the depth of the Barons.
On the way home I stopped and hunted where I found the "oddity" penny I posted below. Used the A&S and found another odd one, also a 1974 penny. Don't know what happened to it, unless it's another broken die coin but that would be a major coincidence as it was found about 150 feet from where the other one was found. Can see where it looks to have been struck two or three times, part of the 7 is missing from the 1974 date and part of the S and the entire T is missing from TRUST. Where it was hit near the edge it's pooched up on both sides, and there's a small hole all the way through that runs at an angle. Strange.
